Winner's Circle Equine Veterinary Service of Ocala understands the needs of horses and their owners, regardless of the horse's current competitive status. Located in the heart of Florida's horse country, ours is a mobile veterinary practice focused on equine sports medicine, quality dentistry, chiropractic care, and acupuncture that uses the latest in mobile diagnostic equipment to help ensure the health of each horse we examine or treat.
Our work begins with understanding the perspective of each owner, buyer, or other interested in the animal's welfare. A conversation with the owner or handler helps us know the horse's symptoms, the length of those symptoms, and possible causes for a horse’s condition. We then observe and examine the animal to help direct us toward various evaluations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
Our equine medical services include evaluations, diagnostic, and wellness practices. We offer brief explanations of each and links to more detailed explanations.
Sports Medicine
We offer specialized sports medicine services, such as lameness evaluations, joint injections, and rehabilitation programs, to help horses achieve peak performance and prevent injuries.
Lameness Evaluation
By observing, examining, and controlled testing, we determine specific abnormalities that point to the source of a horse's problem. Detailed diagnostic testing may occur to pinpoint the underlying problem and develop a treatment plan.
Respiratory Examinations
Listening to a horse breathe with or without a rebreathing bag and performing a nasal endoscopy are common means of tracing whether breathing issues are structural or infectious and signaling the proper treatment.
Endoscopy
Fiber optic or video endoscopies are minimally invasive veterinary procedures that allow us to see inside horses to assess structural issues.
Ultrasonography
Ultrasonography or ultrasound uses sound waves to detect soft tissue inflammation, tears, and fractures in horses' legs to confirm or help diagnose structural problems.
Digital Radiography (X-ray)
Onsite digital radiography allows us to assess bony structures for fractures, breaks, and dislocations in the horse's everyday environment, with the results available immediately.
Full Body Thermography
Full-body thermography is a non-invasive and stress-free diagnostic method based on differences in skin temperature.
Full Body Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic manipulation alleviates discomfort in joints, allowing a horse to move freely.
Acupuncture
Horses unresponsive to traditional veterinary care can gain relief through acupuncture, which triggers an anti-inflammatory response in musculoskeletal issues.
Veterinary Grade Dentistry
Horses need dental check-ups every six months, and when their behavior suggests they may be experiencing dental health issues. Appropriate treatment follows as required.
Seasonal Exams
A horse's annual exam includes checking gait, hoof condition, gums and teeth, and a complete body exam, including the gastrointestinal tract.
